Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Outcrops in the Blanice River valley. The serpentinite body is exposed and enclosed in two-mica mica schist paragneisses. Intercalated amphibolites, garnet metaquartzites and two-mica orthogneisses also appear. Deep drilling discovered in 600 metres depth the body of serpentinized dunite. Ultrabasic rocks contain a typical association of minerals, such as olivine, orthopyroxene, talk, vermiculite, etc. The locality is situated in the Park of Blaník Knights.
